Delhi Police arrest criminals linked to gangsters

The Delhi Police on Friday apprehended two wanted criminals tied to foreign-based gangsters in an encounter in the Kapashera area. The arrested individuals, Akash Rajput and Mahipal, reside in Rajasthan.

Rajput faces serious charges, with police identifying him as a key player in multiple extortion and kidnapping cases across Haryana, Gujarat, and Rajasthan. Authorities have placed a ₹20,000 bounty on Rajput, reflecting the high level of his criminal activities.

Police reports indicate that Rajput was involved in the July 2022 firing outside a hospital in Assandh, Karnal. This incident was orchestrated under the orders of notorious gangster Daler Kotia. Furthermore, Rajput’s criminal record includes a July 2025 abduction case in Gujarat, during which gangster Kirit Singh Jhala demanded a hefty ₹100 crore ransom.

“Rajput’s criminal connections extend to a syndicate that includes gangsters Rohit Godara, Goldy Brar, and Virender Charan,” an officer stated. These developments highlight the expanding influence of such criminal networks across state borders.

Meanwhile, Mahipal had previously been arrested in connection with the same Karnal firing case but was released on bail. Police indicated that he resumed activities within this increasingly dangerous network.

In a dramatic turn of events during the encounter, Rajput sustained a bullet injury to his lower body. Officers quickly transported him to a nearby hospital for treatment. The circumstances surrounding the confrontation remain under thorough investigation by the police.

This arrest marks a significant step in the Delhi Police’s ongoing efforts to dismantle organized crime linked to foreign gangs, which continues to pose a substantial threat to public safety across various Indian states.
