The Jammu and Kashmir cricket team achieved a historic victory, defeating Rajasthan by an innings in an impressive display during their Ranji Trophy Elite Group-A match at the Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium today. Auqib Nabi led the charge with a sensational bowling performance, taking 7 wickets for just 24 runs.
Rajasthan, resuming their second innings at a dismal score of 41 for 5, needed a miracle to turn things around. Instead, they faced a relentless assault from Auqib Nabi, who expertly utilized the morning conditions to decimate their batting line-up. His extraordinary spell lasted 11 overs, showcasing remarkable control and skill to leave the Rajasthan batters utterly perplexed.
Nabi’s incredible bowling effort saw him bag 7 wickets, effectively shattering any hopes the Rajasthan team had of a comeback. Alongside him, Yudhvir Singh offered valuable support, taking 2 wickets for 33 runs in 8.5 overs, helping to reduce Rajasthan to a mere 89 runs in their second innings.
Despite some resistance from Deepak Hooda and Deepak Chahar, who scored 28 and 26 runs respectively, the rest of the batting order crumbled under pressure. The pair’s efforts proved futile against a disciplined Jammu and Kashmir attack that executed their game plan to perfection.
Auqib Nabi’s all-around performance not only earned him the Player of the Match title but also highlighted Jammu and Kashmir’s rising prominence in domestic cricket. His exemplary bowling, characterized by precision and speed, drew accolades and renewed interest in the regional team’s abilities.
At the match, BCCI President Mithun Manhas and Brig Anil Gupta, Member (Administration) of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), were in attendance. They congratulated the team on their landmark achievement, emphasizing the significance of the win for J&K cricket, which continues to gain traction across the national stage.
This resounding victory marks a pivotal moment in Jammu and Kashmir cricket history.
