Aarav Mahajan, a promising 19-year-old cricketer from Jammu, has achieved a significant milestone by earning a place in the 18-member Uttarakhand Ranji Trophy squad for the upcoming domestic season. His remarkable consistency with the bat has drawn attention from selectors and cricket enthusiasts alike.
Aarav’s selection comes after a stellar performance across several age-group tournaments, including the prestigious Cooch Behar Trophy (U-19), Vinoo Mankad Trophy, and CK Nayudu Trophy (U-23). In these competitions, he amassed nearly 700 runs, including three centuries and three fifties at the U-19 level. Additionally, his impressive 87-run innings in the U-23 tournament has further solidified his reputation as a talented top-order batter.
Attending three National Cricket Academy (NCA) camps, with the latest being at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence, has exposed Aarav to elite coaching and training. Last season, he ranked 17th among the top U-19 run-getters in India, falling just short of a national call-up. His sustained performances have now provided a pathway into the senior cricket setup.
Cricket analysts view Mahajan’s inclusion in the Uttarakhand squad as a pivotal moment in his cricketing career. They believe his talent and hard work could lead to opportunities for even greater achievements in the sport.
The selection committee announced the full Uttarakhand Ranji Trophy squad, which includes notable players such as Kunal Chandela (Captain), Prashant Chopra, and Bhupendra Lalwani, alongside Aarav Mahajan. The team is gearing up for a competitive season ahead.
