Athletes competing in the Inter Zonal District Level Athletics Meet at University of Jammu

The Inter Zonal District Level Athletics Competition for All Age Group (AAG) Girls commenced today at the University of Jammu. This event is organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), District Jammu, aiming to promote athletics among young female athletes.

On the opening day, around 300 girl athletes from various government and private schools showcased their talents and competitive spirit across multiple track and field events. Participants exhibited remarkable strength, speed, and enthusiasm throughout the day, creating an electric atmosphere.

In the discus throw events, athletes excelled in their respective categories. The U-19 gold medal went to Sweety Devi from Zone Marh, with Konika Chib from Zone RS Pura securing silver and Renu from Zone Bishnah claiming bronze. In the U-17 category, Nidhi Verma from Zone Satwari took home the gold, while Kiran Kumari and Nirjala completed the podium. The U-14 title saw Subhana from Zone Satwari emerge victorious, with Sonakshi and Mansi following in silver and bronze positions respectively.

The 100m races showcased fierce competition, with Damanpreet from Zone Bishnah winning gold in the U-14 category, Nishta Sharma from Zone Jammu claiming the gold in U-17, and Shivani from Zone Jammu dominating the U-19 category.

In the 400m events, Sahiba Choudhary from Zone Dansal emerged as the winner in the U-14 race while Nishta Sharma continued her strong performance in the U-17 category. The 300m race concluded with Mehak from Zone Jammu clinching gold in U-19 and Sonia Choudhary from Zone Dansal securing the top spot in the U-17 category.

Performances in the high jump events highlighted the robust talent pool. Shriya Bhagat from Zone Chowki Choura claimed gold in the U-14 category, followed by Rohika Devi in the U-17 and Payal Kumari in the U-19 category, both also representing Zone Chowki Choura.

The event attracted the attention of local officials and sports enthusiasts alike. Notable personnel from the DYSS, including Nirmal Singh, Chamel Singh, Sarabjeet Singh, Vijay Sharma, Harsimran Singh, and others were present to honor the athletes. They presented medals to the top performers and congratulated all participants.

Event organizers emphasized the importance of dedication, discipline, team spirit, and sportsmanship throughout the competition. They encouraged all athletes, regardless of their performance, to embody these values as they progress in their athletic journeys.
