BJP leaders pay tribute to Sher-e-Duggar Pt. Prem Nath Dogra

On the birth anniversary of revered nationalist leader Pandit Prem Nath Dogra, fondly known as Sher-e-Duggar, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) paid rich tributes across Jammu and Kashmir today. The celebrations showcased a spirit of national unity and reinforced Dogra’s contributions towards Indian integration.

The commemoration in Srinagar saw BJP National General Secretary and In-charge for Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh Tarun Chugh leading the event. Senior party leaders gathered to garland the portrait of Pt. Dogra at the party office.

Among the attendees were Sat Sharma, J&K BJP President; Ashok Koul, General Secretary (Organization); Dr. Shehnaz Ganai; and Anwar Khan, who all offered floral tributes to the influential leader.

Chugh hailed Pt. Prem Nath Dogra as “an institution of national integration and selfless service.” He emphasized that Dogra’s dedicated fight for ‘Ek Vidhan, Ek Nishan, Ek Pradhan’ significantly shaped the ideological foundation of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh and continues to guide the BJP.

He remarked that the recent abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A by the Narendra Modi Government reflects Dogra’s lifelong aspiration. This act, he stated, serves as “the ultimate tribute to his steadfast commitment to national unity.”

Sat Sharma praised Dogra as a visionary leader who spearheaded the Praja Parishad Movement, advocating for complete integration of Jammu & Kashmir with India. He expressed that “Pandit Ji’s long-cherished dream has been realized under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

Ashok Koul shared memories of Pt. Dogra’s moral integrity, underscoring his unwavering determination during the “Ek Vidhan, Ek Nishan, Ek Pradhan” movement, which abolished Jammu and Kashmir’s position of a separate Prime Minister.

In Jammu, BJP leaders including MP (Lok Sabha) Jugal Kishore Sharma and J&K BJP General Secretaries Sanjita Dogra and Baldev Singh Billawaria performed a Hawan and offered floral tributes at Dogra Chowk.

Jugal Kishore Sharma characterized Pt. Dogra as “a towering statesman and patriot who led the historic Praja Parishad Movement for full integration of J&K with India.” His sentiments mirrored those of many who commemorate Dogra’s legacy as integral to national identity.

Sanjita Dogra encouraged party workers to embody Pandit Ji’s selfless spirit, while Baldev Singh Billawaria highlighted that Dogra’s ideology laid the groundwork for the unification of Jammu & Kashmir with the Indian Union.
