A senior Border Security Force (BSF) officer revealed on Saturday that terrorists are positioned at launch pads along the Line of Control (LoC), waiting for opportunities to infiltrate into the Kashmir valley. Inspector General (IG) Ashok Yadav emphasized that security forces remain vigilant and ready to thwart any infiltration attempts.
The IG stressed that attempts to breach the LoC typically escalate before the winter snowfall. “There are always attempts to infiltrate before snowfall. With about two months left, chances of infiltration persist until November. Terrorists are aware that they face limited opportunities during the winter months,” Yadav stated.
Yadav highlighted the strategic waiting position of these terrorists near the LoC, specifically in areas opposite Bandipora and Kupwara sectors. “They wait for an appropriate moment, often exploiting inclement weather to launch their efforts. However, our security measures are robust, and the forces are consistently prepared for any situation,” he explained.
Moreover, the IG noted that the collaboration between the Army and BSF has effectively strengthened the security landscape at the LoC. Yadav mentioned, “We are dominating the LoC with advanced surveillance technologies. Our vigilance has allowed us to successfully thwart two infiltration attempts this year.”
The advancements in surveillance methods and heightened alertness from personnel have rendered infiltration increasingly challenging for terrorists. Yadav remarked, “Infiltrating our area of responsibility (AOR) is very difficult due to the alertness and new methodologies employed by our forces.”
As winter approaches, the BSF remains committed to safeguarding the Kashmir valley against any potential threats. The continuous monitoring of the LoC, combined with strategic deployment of resources, ensures that the security framework remains robust and effective.
