PATNA, Nov 14: The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) demonstrated a commanding lead in the early trends of the Bihar Assembly election counting, securing early leads in 166 out of the 243 seats, well above the majority mark of 122, as reported by the Election Commission.
The opposition INDIA bloc trails significantly, showing leads in just 59 seats. Election officials indicated that these trends might fluctuate, as multiple rounds of counting remain.
Within the NDA, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leads in 72 seats, followed closely by Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)) with 71, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) (LJP (RV)) at 18, Hindustan Awam Morcha (Secular) (HAM(S)) in four, and Rashtriya Loktantrik Manch (RLM) holding one seat.
The opposition INDIA bloc’s performance appears dismal, with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leading in 43 seats, Indian National Congress in 8, Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation (CPI(ML)-Liberation) in six, and both Communist Party of India (CPI) and Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) in one seat each.
Additionally, players like the Jan Suraaj Party, led by Prashant Kishor, and Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP), headed by Mukesh Sahani, are lagging as they trail in all contested constituencies.
In notable races, Khesari Lal Yadav from RJD is trailing in Chhapra, while Maithili Thakur from BJP leads in Alinagar. Osama Shahab of RJD shows strong numbers in Ragunathpur, while JD(U) minister Leshi Singh is ahead in Dhamdaha.
Tejashwi Yadav, the INDIA bloc’s Chief Ministerial candidate, holds a lead in Raghopur. Additionally, Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary from Tarapur and Vijay Kumar Sinha from Lakhisarai are also showing leading trends.
However, discomfort arises for Tej Pratap Yadav in Mahua, where he finds himself in fourth place, with Sanjay Kumar Singh from LJP(RV) taking the lead.
